Welcome to Leighton Linslade Croquet Club 2023 website.
Our club is situated in Pages Park, Leighton Buzzard. We have three lawns next to our clubhouse, being part of the pavilion in the middle of Pages Park.
Within our clubhouse we have toilet facilities, excellent tea / coffee making facilities and storage for our equipment.
Croquet is ideal for those who are unable to do a physically active sport but wish to take part in an outdoor activity requiring tactical thinking and a degree of competitiveness.
We are a friendly club, giving tuition to anyone wishing to 'give it a try' and have several club mallets for players to use before purchasing their own mallet. Several of our members are qualified coaches who can take new members through every aspect of the game.
During social play at our club we generally play doubles and we mix up players using a simple peg system. This helps with the social aspect of our club as well as allowing inexperienced players to partner those more experienced helping to improve their game.
Our usual playing times are: -
Saturday 2 to 5
Sunday - 2 to 5
Tuesday - 2 to 5 (singles & handicap)
Wednesday - 10 onwards
Thursday - 10 onwards
Mondays and Fridays are frequently match days but check the DIARY page to see if there is a match being played. If not, then general play is possible.
Our playing season starts at the end of March and goes on until the end of September. During our closed season, October to March, we have a social club which meets every Wednesday morning in our clubhouse, playing dominos, cards etc. The social club allows our members to keep in touch until the playing season starts again.
There are two distinct forms of croquet, Association Croquet and Golf Croquet - at Leighton Linslade we only play Golf Croquet.
Many members come to our club just for friendly social play whilst some members, who take a more competitive approach, enter into club matches, friendlies with other local clubs, area leagues and national tournaments.
Our membership fee for 2023 is £90 for the year or if joining during the playing season (April to September), a reducing sliding fee applies.
